What are Certificates of Inspections?

Certificates of inspections are special purpose vehicles that have special TMR certificates for the type of purpose it is used for. Our AIS station is fully equipped and holds CL Inspections. We can inspect vehicles all the way up to 4.5 tonnes (GVM), with all the necessary equipment and paperwork. A necessary time and day that is suitable for the inspector to come to you to complete the Car Inspection Certificate. For more information visit QLD Gov Certificates of Inspection.

Car Inspection Certificate

Once the examiner has inspected the vehicle thoroughly, the examiner will lodge the inspection with TMR and also send a copy to the customer. When completed this entitles the customer to renew their certificate with their associated organisation, to continue to use them again. Customers need to keep in mind that certificate of inspections is similar to a roadworthy but with slight differences.

COI Exemptions

Certain exemptions apply under circumstances.

A new vehicle bought within the new financial year
A vehicle in the National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Scheme ( NHVAS) participating in the maintenance module
Registered under special interest vehicle concession

The Department of Mains Road (TMR) will issue you a notice 10-12 weeks prior to expiring. It’s the customer’s own responsibility to keep up to date with the car inspection certificate.
